Damp insulation materials require different treatment methods depending on their type, degree of dampness, and operating environment. These include drying, testing, repair, or replacement. The core objective is to restore or maintain their insulation performance and prevent structural damage and energy waste.
1. Immediately Stop Use and Isolate the Damp Area:
If dampness is found in the insulation layer of pipes, walls, or equipment, quickly disconnect the heat or cold source to prevent further moisture diffusion due to temperature differences.
For industrial pipelines, temporarily install rainproof cloths or sealing covers to prevent continuous rainwater intrusion.
2. Scientific Drying Treatment:
Natural Ventilation Drying: Move the damp insulation material to a dry, well-ventilated indoor environment. Lay it flat or stand it upright, using a fan to accelerate air circulation. Avoid direct sunlight or high-temperature baking to prevent material deformation or fiber breakage.
Avoid Mechanical Compression: Do not pile or compress the material during the drying process to avoid damaging the pore structure and affecting subsequent insulation performance.
3. Professional Testing and Status Confirmation
Moisture Content Testing: Use a professional moisture meter to measure the internal moisture content of the material, ensuring it is below the product standard (e.g., rock wool boards typically require <1%).
Physical Performance Review: Inspect for damage such as mold, delamination, powdering, and deformation. Materials with severe deterioration should be scrapped immediately.
